Grand Circle Road Trip: Day 8, 9 + 10

Today the cold got even colder. We made the long drive to the Grand Canyon and drove through the Kaibab National Forest. There was some major snow fall along the way.

When we arrived at the Grand Canyon this is what we saw. Nothing but clouds so we decided to stop by the Verkamp Visitors Center and explore Grand Canyon Village.

Hopi House was full of arts and crafts and a really fun way to see the crafts created in this region. Because of the dense clouds we decided to do some indoor activities and went to the Grand Canyon IMAX in Tusayan, the town where we stayed.

The next morning the clouds were gone and the canyon was in clear view.

The south rim offers some spectacular views and historic buildings build right into the cliffs of the canyon.

We took a shuttle to Hermit's Rest. The architectural building here is insanely detailed and features a large floor to ceiling hearth. We enjoyed the pit stop and got a snack to eat while overlooking the canyon.

No park would be complete without a sign photo and Grand Canyon was no exception. I'm so glad the sky cleared up so we could see this wonder of the natural world.

Next up was some In and Out Burger for our nostalgic drive along Route 66.

We drove along the section of Route 66 shown above and loved reading all the advertisements along the way. They've done a great job preserving the fun of the American road trip. Our last night we stayed in Kingman, AZ before heading back to Las Vegas to fly home.

With only a few to spend in Vegas we stopped at the Downtown Container Park.

Then we made our way to the Bellagio to see the new garden display.

After a fountain show it was time to head home.
